While our children come for one lunch meal a day, we also do home visits to monitor the conditions in which our families are living. Recently, we heard that 3 of our children were sick, as was their grandmother who was caring for them. We went into the small room that was their home; the ventilation was very poor, and we had to use our phone flashlights to see. Three children were sleeping on synthetic rice packaging paper bags with only 2 tattered blankets. Bed bugs were crawling over their bodies, and we could not hold back our tears.
Then, the blessings. One of the visitors with me paid for the sickest child to receive treatment at Mama Lucy Hospital. I arranged for daily lunch to be delivered to the other 2 children and their sick grandmother. And yesterday, that same visitor donated a 6’ x 6’ mattress to the family. The family is recovering.
