Combating Gender-Based Violence: Provide International’s Commitment to Change!
At Provide International, we are deeply committed to addressing and mitigating the impact of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the slums of Korogocho, Kayole, and Dandora. Recognizing the severe challenges posed by socio-economic hardships and a lack of employment opportunities, we are at the forefront of advocating against GBV and working to create safer, more supportive environments for women and families.
Our GBV Intervention Program
Our comprehensive GBV intervention program is designed to tackle the root causes of gender-based violence and support survivors. We employ a multi-faceted approach that includes prevention, response, and recovery strategies to address and reduce the prevalence of GBV in our communities.
Key Approaches and Interventions
- Awareness and Advocacy
- Community Education:Â We conduct workshops and seminars to educate communities about GBV, its impacts, and available resources. By raising awareness, we aim to shift attitudes and reduce stigma associated with GBV.
- Public Campaigns:Â Through campaigns and outreach activities, we advocate for the rights of women and promote the importance of addressing GBV as a community issue.
- Support Services for Survivors
- Counseling and Psychological Support:Â Our trained counselors provide emotional support and therapy for survivors, helping them cope with trauma and rebuild their lives.
- Legal Assistance:Â We offer legal support and advocacy to ensure survivors receive justice and protection under the law.
- Safe Spaces: We create and maintain safe spaces where survivors can access immediate support including medical care.
- Capacity Building and Training
- Training Programs:Â We train local leaders, community health workers, and law enforcement on GBV issues, response strategies, and support mechanisms to enhance their ability to address and prevent violence effectively.
- Empowerment Workshops:Â By offering workshops on women's rights, self-defense, and economic empowerment, we help women build resilience and gain the confidence to stand against violence.
- Economic Empowerment
- Job Creation: Recognizing that economic instability often contributes to GBV, we implement initiatives to create job opportunities and support women’s economic independence through skills training and small business support.
- Collaboration and Partnerships
- Local Partnerships:Â We collaborate with local organizations, community groups, and government agencies to strengthen our GBV interventions and ensure a coordinated response.
- International Cooperation:Â We engage with international bodies and experts to share knowledge, resources, and strategies to enhance our GBV programs.
